Solidarity City in Sao Paolo has delivered more than 300,000 packs to vulnerable families

City Hall intensified the distribution of groceries in May and, daily, about 5 to 7 thousand food, hygiene and cleaning kits are delivered in several neighborhoods of the city

Since it was launched in April, the Cidade Solidária program, a volunteer action by the São Paulo City Hall and civil society, has delivered more than 300,000 basic food baskets, in addition to various hygiene and cleaning kits, to families in the city in a situation. of vulnerability.

Deliveries intensified in May. Daily, between five to seven thousand baskets with food, cleaning and hygiene products leave the shed of the Brazilian Red Cross, one of the program's partners, towards various neighborhoods in the city where the elderly live, people with pre-existing diseases, individuals with disabilities and low-income families and / or citizens living in extremely vulnerable territories.

In order for the program to maintain the flow of donations, the population must continue to collaborate and donate. In this sense, thanks to the generosity of the population, significant amounts of donations, whether under the Solidary City program or not, were made by individuals, large companies, civil society entities and even by other nations. And in order to further expand the item receiving network, this week, the City Hall expanded the collection of donations for the entire transportation system in the city.
