Summer vacation despite Corona in Kaiserslautern

Creative ideas and hands-on offers for summer vacation program wanted!

Summer vacation in spite of Corona - the travel restrictions and the lack of childcare facilities during the summer vacation are a considerable challenge for many Kaiserslautern parents and children. The city is currently working on a concept that should bring variety and benefits during the summer vacation.

"On the one hand, we would like to offer childcare options, but on the other hand we want to show what you can experience in our city," says Alexander Heß from the project office for city events. In the form of a "city rally" it is planned to offer attractive elements such as treasure hunt, geo-caching, sight-seeing or much more in Kaiserslautern for children and families. Campaigns in the city and beyond should actively and intensively involve the participants so that they grapple with their lovable and livable hometown Kaiserslautern. Of course, offers from the districts or the surrounding area of Kaiserslautern can also be included.

The city of Kaiserslautern needs support here and calls on all retailers, companies, associations or clubs to get in touch with their creative ideas and offers. Of course, the ideas and offers can also flow hourly, daily or weekly. Offers with or without childcare options can be reported. “The creative, intellectual or even sporting tasks should carry the participants away and make the holiday season at home entertaining,” says Alex Hess from the project office for city events. Each participant can also reward the participants with a goodie, a voucher or, for example, a trial lesson.

If you want to be there, you can still send your ideas and suggestions to the event office of the city of Kaiserslautern until May 22, 2020 (email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)

The city will summarize the program items, which offer care facilities on the one hand and are part of the city rally on the other, and publish them in a booklet.
