“Carbon Upcycling have demonstrated the upmost resourcefulness by transforming the threatening presence of carbon emissions into an environmentally positive resource for halting the spread of COVID-19” ( Mike Lake, President and CEO of Leading Cities)

Leading Cities is excited to announce Carbon Upcycling Technologies as the $25,000 prize winner of the 2020 AcceliCITY Resiliency Track made possible by QBE. An important subset of the AcceliCITY Competition; the Resiliency Track focused on sourcing and vetting solutions from around the world that create resiliency by addressing the pandemic and a city’s reaction to such threats.

Carbon Upcycling Technologies (“CUT”) was formed to use the pollution of today to build the materials of tomorrow by converting CO2 gas into solid products. Through its portfolio of CO2-derived solid nanoparticles, CUT has technically validated its solutions for use in plastics, coatings, epoxy, adhesives, concrete, lithium-ion battery, pharmaceutical industries, and consumer products.

“Carbon Upcycling has done what some may have never thought possible—they have demonstrated the upmost resourcefulness by transforming the threatening presence of carbon emissions into an environmentally positive resource for halting the spread of COVID-19” said Mike Lake, President and CEO of Leading Cities.

CUT has proven its dedication to enabling resiliency by adapting its environmentally sustainable solution to combat the recent COVID-19 crisis. Since the start of the pandemic, CUT has been working to develop a novel filtration material using CO2-embedded additives. With the potential to create a lighter weight, better performing mask, they are also committed to reducing the environmental impact of mask use.

As the Resiliency Track champion, Carbon Upcycling has been fast-tracked to the QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge finals, which will determine the winner of $100,000 cash prize on October 22nd.
