{"id":10217,"date":"2021-12-28T06:37:11","date_gmt":"2021-12-28T05:37:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thesmartcityjournal.cibeles.net\/sin-categoria\/agenda-to-achieve-circularity-of-plastics\/"},"modified":"2021-12-27T17:44:50","modified_gmt":"2021-12-27T16:44:50","slug":"agenda-to-achieve-circularity-of-plastics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thesmartcityjournal.com\/en\/sustainability\/agenda-to-achieve-circularity-of-plastics","title":{"rendered":"Agenda to achieve Circularity of Plastics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\"><em>New report issued by SusChem and partners<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In response to the European Plastics Strategy, the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistry (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.suschem.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">SusChem<\/a>) and partners issue new report:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/suschem.org\/files\/library\/Plastics_Strategic_Research_Innovation_Agenda_FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Plastics Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda in a Circular Economy<\/strong><\/a>.&nbsp;This report identifies the challenges to plastic circularity and defines the types of solutions needed to address them. Future research is required in three main areas: Circularity by design, recycling and alternative feedstock.<\/p>\n<p>SusChem Chairman Dr. Markus Steilemann said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe Plastics industry is committed to increase the resource efficiency of its production processes and to face the challenge of closing the circularity loop. The new Research and Innovation Agenda gives fresh impetus on the strongest way to drive progress along plastics value chains by means of collaboration\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The analysis from this report has helped to identify priorities, projects and the level of investment needed to achieve full circularity of plastics. SusChem and its partners \u2013 Cefic, PlasticsEurope, European Plastics Converters (EuPC) and the European Composites, Plastics and Polymer Processing Platform (ECP4) \u2013 will use this report as their main input to EU innovation policy on the circularity of plastics.
