{"id":12155,"date":"2022-05-28T07:35:54","date_gmt":"2022-05-28T05:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thesmartcityjournal.cibeles.net\/sin-categoria\/twitter-investors-sue-musk-over-conduct\/"},"modified":"2022-05-28T07:35:41","modified_gmt":"2022-05-28T05:35:41","slug":"twitter-investors-sue-musk-over-conduct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thesmartcityjournal.com\/en\/business\/twitter-investors-sue-musk-over-conduct","title":{"rendered":"Twitter investors sue Musk over conduct"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Investors accuse Musk of benefiting financially by delaying the disclosure of an initial 5 per cent stake in Twitter, which he had acquired by 14 March 2022<\/p>\n<p>Investors launched a lawsuit against Elon Musk and Twitter over the handling of a proposed takeover of the social media company, accusing the billionaire of violating corporate laws, market manipulation and wrongful conduct.<\/p>\n<p>In a proposed class-action lawsuit filed in the US, Twitter investor William Heresniak led the complaint on behalf of himself and others similarly situated.<\/p>\n<p>The suit filed accuses Musk of creating \u201cchaos\u201d at Twitter, after the billionaire launched a $44 billion&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobileworldlive.com\/featured-content\/home-banner\/musk-pulls-off-44b-deal-to-buy-twitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hostile takeover bid<\/a>&nbsp;in late April.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter was also named as a defendant, with the investors arguing it had an obligation to investigate Musk\u2019s moves, although it is unlikely the company will be on the hook for any damages.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"article-title\">Market manipulation<\/h2>\n<p>Investors accuse Musk of benefiting financially by delaying the disclosure of an initial 5 per cent stake in Twitter, which he had acquired by 14 March 2022.
