Participants from 40 countries fulfilled their business requirements at the exhibition and the parallel conference sessions. Meaningful interaction on the show floor, and during the conference sessions, proved to be extremely useful in facilitating India\u2019s mission to create smart cities across the nation. The second edition (May 11-13) \u00a0is going to be too a useful platform for companies to share solutions, products and services to develop Indian cities.<\/p>\n<p>After the launch of <strong>100 Smart Cities Mission<\/strong>, its time to make <strong>Smart Villages in India<\/strong>. The Government is preparing its plan for <strong>2,500 Smart Villages by 2019<\/strong>. According to the 2011 census of India, 68.84% of Indians (around 833.1 million people) live in 640,867 different villages. The size of these villages varies considerably. 236,004 Indian villages have a population of fewer than 500, while 3,976 villages have a population of 10,000+.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is because of this that this second Expo will host a special session on Smart Villages, a bundle of services which are delivered to its residents and businesses in an effective and efficient manner. Dozens of services including construction, farming, electricity, health care, water, retail, manufacturing and logistics are needed in building a smart village.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There will be also two more big meetings: the<strong> Mayor\u2019s Conclave<\/strong> and the <strong>1st Smart Transport India 2016 Expo<\/strong>. The first one event will offer a common platform to both industry and city leaders\/ mayors (national and international) to foster best practices in urban policy innovation, encourage collaboration, boost investments and offer lucrative business opportunities. To implement <strong>Prime Minister Modi\u2019s<\/strong> vision of smart cities, there is need for \u2018Smart Transportation\u2019 to develop sustainable mobility for the masses. An estimated investment of <strong>$23 trillion<\/strong> is required for metro, rail, bus &amp; other associated infrastructure over the period of next 20 years for efficient public transport systems in India.<\/p>\n<p>So this three-day long exhibition and conferences will show how the world&#8217;s most populous \u00a0subcontinent prepares the future of their cities. A huge revolution in the making.
