The city of Curitiba<\/strong> will again, for two days, host the Brazilian edition of Smart City Expo<\/strong>, the summit on smart cities and urban solutions organised by Fira de Barcelona<\/a> in collaboration with ICITIES and with the support of the city of Curitiba and the Brazilian FNP<\/strong> (National Council of Mayors, in its initials in Portuguese). Under the theme ‘Planning the cities we want’<\/em>, the event will be a meeting point for cities, institutional representatives and companies where the main challenges faced by cities will be addressed.<\/p>\n

The event brings together 85 internationally<\/strong> renowned speakers who will address the challenges faced by many cities through a programme of conferences and activities based around four central themes: Technologies for smart cities; creative, sustainable and human cities; governance in digital companies; and planning innovative and inclusive cities. The programme for the congress has 25 sessions<\/strong>, including conferences, plenary and parallel sessions and over 60 Brazilian cities<\/strong> are present. The event will also have the presence and support of around one hundred institutions and companies.<\/p>\n

Among the speakers at Smart City Expo Curitiba 2019 will be Bibop Gresta<\/strong>, co-founder and current President of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, the disruptive means of transport through tubes allowing passengers to travel at speeds of 1,200 km\/h at ground-level; Ana Carla Fonseca<\/strong>, director of Garimpo de Solu\u00e7\u00f5es, a leading company in the creative economy, culture, cities and the future of work; and Brooks Rainwater<\/strong>, Senior Executive and Director of the Centre for City Solutions of the National League of Cities.<\/p>\n

The 6,000 expected attendees<\/strong> will be able to discover some of the most disruptive urban solutions in the exhibition area of the congress, where the Smart Plaza<\/strong> will play a central role. This is an area in which activities to encourage networking and promote the solutions proposed by some of the participating start-up companies will take place.<\/p>\n

CONSOLIDATED INTERNATIONALISATION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Smart City Expo Curitiba forms part of the internationalisation strategy of Smart City Expo World Congress<\/a> (SCEWC), the main international summit on smart cities and urban solutions organised by Fira de Barcelona<\/strong>. In addition to Curitiba, SCEWC is organising other regional events in Buenos Aires<\/strong>, Kyoto<\/strong> and Puebla<\/strong> in 2019.<\/p>\n
