The Muscovite\u2019s Card is a social project of the city of Moscow launched in 2001. It is a personalized plastic card that provides Moscow citizens with a wide range of services for comfortable access to the city’s infrastructure, transport benefits, most of its digital services.<\/p>\n

It enables its residents to pay for public transport fares, receive pensions, grants, subsidies, allowances, city social payments and their own funds. The card ensures the security of these payments.<\/p>\n

The Muscovite’s card can also be used to pay for purchases and services, make an appointment with a doctor, pay for housing services, and receive discounts in more than 7,500 retail stores in Moscow and the Moscow region. In addition, the Single Library Card can be included in the Muscovite\u2019s Card and used in the whole library network of the city. Currently, over 5 million Moscow residents are holders of the Muscovite\u2019s Card.<\/p>\n

The Muscovite\u2019s Card can be issued to several categories of residents. The card is intended for pensioners and residents of retirement age, graduate students, full-time assistant trainees, students of Moscow schools and colleges, as well as large families, veterans and officers and representatives of other preferential categories.<\/p>\n

Students of Moscow schools and colleges can use the Muscovite\u2019s Card as an identifier of the “Moskvenok” service and the “Museums for Children” project. The “Moskvenok” service allows students to enter the building of a school and make cashless purchases in the school cafeteria. As part of the “Museums for Children” project, students can visit more than 100 Moscow museums and exhibition halls for free with their Muscovite\u2019s Card.<\/p>\n

The Muscovite card is also provided with a concessionary travel application and the “Troika” transport application. During the coronavirus pandemic, it was also used as a means of combating the spread of the virus and ensuring the safety of citizens. Schoolchildren and students could not use the card during distance learning. Moscow residents over the age of 65 and citizens with chronic illnesses are still unable to use the transport application. To encourage vaccination, after receiving the vaccine, the card is unblocked and travel is resumed when the risk of infection becomes minimal.<\/p>\n
