Estos apt\u00e1meros, ya patentados, se unen con gran afinidad y especificidad a la prote\u00edna denominada \u201ccore\u201d, que forma la c\u00e1psida del VHC y es la m\u00e1s conservada entre las codificadas por su genoma.<\/p>\n<p>En palabras de&nbsp;Carlos Briones, investigador del CAB y autor principal del trabajo: \u201ces muy interesante comprobar c\u00f3mo la tecnolog\u00eda de evoluci\u00f3n molecular&nbsp;<em>in vitro<\/em>&nbsp;de \u00e1cidos nucleicos, que empleamos en la investigaci\u00f3n sobre el origen de la vida y el&nbsp;<em>Mundo ARN<\/em>, tambi\u00e9n nos permite obtener mol\u00e9culas \u00fatiles en los campos del diagn\u00f3stico y la terapia, tanto para el VHC como frente a otros virus con los que trabajamos\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>El an\u00e1lisis bioinform\u00e1tico de los apt\u00e1meros obtenidos, llevado a cabo principalmente en el CNB, ha permitido identificar los motivos de secuencia presentes en las mol\u00e9culas que se unen a la prote\u00edna core de los genotipos 1 a 4 del VHC, responsables del 95% de los casos a nivel mundial (unos 4 millones de nuevas infecciones anuales). Asimismo, los ensayos realizados en cultivo celular en el CBMSO han mostrado que estos apt\u00e1meros no presentan toxicidad para la c\u00e9lula, y que al menos dos de ellos poseen alta capacidad para inhibir la replicaci\u00f3n del virus, interfiriendo con la formaci\u00f3n de su c\u00e1psida.<\/p>\n<p>Este trabajo, publicado en la revista&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0022283622000754?via%3Dihub\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Journal of Molecular Biology<\/a><\/em>, podr\u00eda contribuir al desarrollo de novedosos biosensores y sistemas de diagn\u00f3stico de la hepatitis C, con una sensibilidad de detecci\u00f3n mucho mayor que los actuales. Adem\u00e1s, para&nbsp;Esteban Domingo, coautor del trabajo, \u201cestos apt\u00e1meros podr\u00edan dar lugar a opciones terap\u00e9uticas novedosas frente a un virus de tanta prevalencia mundial como el VHC, convirti\u00e9ndose en f\u00e1rmacos antivirales alternativos o complementarios a los actuales, que son muy caros y frente a los que ya se han detectado casos de resistencia\u201d. Tales aplicaciones en diagn\u00f3stico y terapia est\u00e1n siendo exploradas en la actualidad, en colaboraci\u00f3n con diferentes grupos de investigaci\u00f3n espa\u00f1oles y extranjeros.<\/p>\n<p>Tres de los autores de este trabajo (Celia Perales, Esteban Domingo y Carlos Briones) pertenecen tambi\u00e9n al Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica en Red de enfermedades hep\u00e1ticas y digestivas (CIBERehd), del Instituto de Salud Carlos III. Por otra parte, esta investigaci\u00f3n se encuadra en los intereses de la iniciativa&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lifehub.csic.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LifeHUB.CSIC<\/a>, creada
