As&iacute; respondi&oacute; el martes por la noche el ministro de Industria, Energ&iacute;a y Turismo, <strong>Jos&eacute; Manuel Soria<\/strong>, durante el Pleno del Senado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Soria respondi&oacute; as&iacute; a una pregunta formulada por la senadora del PP <strong>Carmen Azuara<\/strong> en relaci&oacute;n a las iniciativas que el Gobierno tiene previstas para fomentar el desarrollo de las &lsquo;smart cities&rsquo; con motivo del primer congreso sobre esta materia, que est&aacute; celebrando en Madrid y que concluye hoy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"text-align: justify\">Espa&ntilde;a es uno de los pa&iacute;ses europeos que tiene un mayor n&uacute;mero de ciudades inteligentes<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Espa&ntilde;a cuenta con un plan de ciudades inteligentes, elaborado en colaboraci&oacute;n con el sector privado y p&uacute;blico, con el objetivo de aumentar el aprovechamiento del desarrollo de la econ&oacute;mica digital para las personas, las empresas y las administraciones.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Las diez ciudades espa&ntilde;olas que se han situado en los puestos de cabeza son <strong>Barcelona, Santander, Madrid, M&aacute;laga, Bilbao, Valladolid, Zaragoza, Vitoria, San Sebasti&aacute;n y Pamplona<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Soria explic&oacute; que el Gobierno ha adoptado distintas medidas para impulsar el n&uacute;mero de ciudades inteligentes en Espa&ntilde;a, porque los ciudadanos demandan de manera creciente servicios digitales de mayor calidad, al tiempo que las ciudades compiten entre s&iacute; para atraer actividades econ&oacute;micas y culturales.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"text-align: justify\">Las diez ciudades espa&ntilde;olas que se han situado en los puestos de cabeza son&nbsp;<\/span>Barcelona, Santander, Madrid, M&aacute;laga, Bilbao, Valladolid, Zaragoza, Vitoria, San Sebasti&aacute;n y Pamplona<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">En la actualidad, la mitad de la poblaci&oacute;n del planeta vive en ciudades, mientras que, en Espa&ntilde;a, el 80 por ciento de la poblaci&oacute;n reside en &aacute;reas urbanas. Las &lsquo;ciudades inteligentes&rsquo; ofrecen a sus habitantes los instrumentos que les permiten optimizar las fortalezas de las conexiones digitales para resolver problemas, satisfacer necesidades
