Se trata de una investigaci\u00f3n coordinada por el&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imb-cnm.csic.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instituto de Microelectr\u00f3nica de Barcelona del CSIC<\/a>&nbsp;(IMB-CNM-CSIC) y cuyos resultados se publican ahora en la revista&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.acs.org\/doi\/10.1021\/acssensors.3c00523?ref=pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>ACS Sensors<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>El desarrollo es fruto de la colaboraci\u00f3n entre el IMB-CNM-CSIC, el Instituto de Qu\u00edmica Avanzada de Catalu\u00f1a (IQAC-CSIC), el Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n Sanitaria Islas Baleares (IdISBa), el Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Qu\u00edmica de la Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya, el Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica en Red (CIBER-BBN), el Centro de F\u00edsica \u2013 Universidade do Minho \u2013 Universidade do Porto (CF-UM-UP) de Portugal y la empresa Cellvax, SAS de Francia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSe trata de un dispositivo compacto, barato y de f\u00e1cil manejo que mide de forma simult\u00e1nea tres biomarcadores en esputo, cuyos niveles se ven alterados en pacientes que padecen&nbsp;episodios m\u00e1s graves de la enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva cr\u00f3nica (EPOC)\u201d, indica&nbsp;<strong>C\u00e9sar Fern\u00e1ndez-S\u00e1nchez<\/strong>, coordinador del trabajo e investigador del IMB-CNM.<\/p>\n<p>El dispositivo consiste en una matriz de celdas electroqu\u00edmicas integradas en un chip y un componente de papel incorporados en un cartucho de metacrilato, y permite determinar de manera simult\u00e1nea tres biomarcadores de inflamaci\u00f3n, la interleuquina-8 (IL-8),&nbsp;el factor de necrosis tumoral alfa (TNF-\u03b1) y la enzima mieloperoxidasa (MPO). La concentraci\u00f3n de estos marcadores en el esputo ayudar\u00eda a la detecci\u00f3n temprana de diferentes estadios de EPOC.<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, la EPOC es la tercera causa de mortalidad en el mundo y se detecta mediante una prueba de funci\u00f3n respiratoria por espirometr\u00eda.
