Para millones de personas, esto se traduce en medirse la glucemia, controlar el consumo de carbohidratos e inyectarse insulina a diario.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Los sistemas h\u00edbridos de circuito cerrado han mejorado considerablemente el control gluc\u00e9mico y la calidad de vida mediante la monitorizaci\u00f3n continua de la glucemia y las bombas de insulina subcut\u00e1neas. Sin embargo, la administraci\u00f3n subcut\u00e1nea sigue siendo sub\u00f3ptima porque la absorci\u00f3n de la insulina es relativamente lenta, lo que requiere una planificaci\u00f3n cuidadosa de las comidas y la intervenci\u00f3n frecuente del paciente.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Sistema de administraci\u00f3n intraperitoneal de insulina<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">El equipo del proyecto FORGETDIABETES(se abrir\u00e1 en una nueva ventana), financiado con fondos europeos, propone un planteamiento terap\u00e9utico completamente nuevo: un p\u00e1ncreas bi\u00f3nico totalmente implantable que administra insulina por v\u00eda intraperitoneal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00abLa administraci\u00f3n intraperitoneal se asemeja m\u00e1s a la fisiolog\u00eda normal, lo que permite que la insulina act\u00fae y se elimine con m\u00e1s rapidez\u00bb, explica Claudio Cobelli, catedr\u00e1tico em\u00e9rito de Bioingenier\u00eda de la Universidad de Padua y coordinador del proyecto.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">El sistema integra tres componentes b\u00e1sicos: un sensor de glucemia, un algoritmo de control y una bomba conectada a un dep\u00f3sito interno de insulina. Una caracter\u00edstica novedosa es el uso de una c\u00e1psula oral de insulina(se abrir\u00e1 en una nueva ventana) que los pacientes deben ingerir una vez a la semana. Estas pastillas recorren pasivamente el tracto gastrointestinal hasta llegar al dispositivo implantado, donde rellenan el dep\u00f3sito. Este enfoque reduce la carga psicosocial asociada a las inyecciones frecuentes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Y lo que es m\u00e1s importante, el sistema utiliza nuevos recubrimientos biocompatibles e inmunooptimizados, que garantizan la seguridad y estabilidad a largo plazo. La transmisi\u00f3n continua de datos a la nube garantiza la gesti\u00f3n de las enfermedades.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Algoritmos adaptativos para un control preciso de la glucemia<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">En el coraz\u00f3n del sistema se encuentra un avanzado algoritmo de control adaptado a cada paciente. Mantener la glucemia dentro del intervalo objetivo recomendado requiere una dosificaci\u00f3n precisa de la insulina, ya que una dosis demasiado baja puede provocar hiperglucemia y una dosis demasiado alta, hipoglucemia. El algoritmo adaptativo interpreta continuamente los datos de los sensores y ajusta la entrega en consecuencia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dado que la administraci\u00f3n intraperitoneal imita m\u00e1s al p\u00e1ncreas natural(se abrir\u00e1 en una nueva ventana), los investigadores esperan que con el tiempo pueda permitir objetivos de glucemia m\u00e1s estrictos y una mayor estabilidad metab\u00f3lica. El dispositivo est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado para responder con rapidez a los cambios que se producen tras las comidas o el ejercicio, lo que reduce la necesidad de una intervenci\u00f3n constante del usuario. Adem\u00e1s, se carga mediante transferencia inal\u00e1mbrica de energ\u00eda desde un parche ponible situado fuera del cuerpo.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Fases de prueba y validaci\u00f3n<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">El consorcio ha probado con \u00e9xito el sistema en modelos animales de diabetes.
