Si bien es un procedimiento muy com\u00fan y que salva vidas a diario, conlleva importantes riesgos para el paciente, y tambi\u00e9n para el equipo m\u00e9dico, por la generaci\u00f3n de aerosoles que conlleva.<\/p>\n<p>Se calcula que anualmente se realizan m\u00e1s de 57 millones de intubaciones en el mundo. Diversos estudios muestran que <strong>el 45% de intubaciones en pacientes cr\u00edticos producen complicaciones graves.<\/strong><sup><strong>1<\/strong><\/sup> La intubaci\u00f3n endotraqueal requiere ciertos conocimientos y pericia manual. Este nuevo dispositivo tiene como objetivo <strong>facilitar el proceso de intubaci\u00f3n<\/strong>, <strong>reducir el tiempo de ejecuci\u00f3n<\/strong> y <strong>proteger al personal sanitario<\/strong> al disminuir la exposici\u00f3n a aerosoles pat\u00f3geno-respiratorios. Est\u00e1 realizado con un pl\u00e1stico especial flexible que mantiene y recupera la forma.<\/p>\n<p>La colocaci\u00f3n del dispositivo es de f\u00e1cil aplicaci\u00f3n. Una vez introducido sostiene la lengua del paciente mientras se crea un camino para el tubo endotraqueal (ETT) y ello permite que \u00e9ste pueda seguir f\u00e1cilmente la direcci\u00f3n establecida por la pala hoja del laringoscopio hacia la tr\u00e1quea.<\/p>\n<p>Con el objetivo de poder lanzar el producto al mercado, Airway Shield pone en marcha, a partir del 28 de agosto, una <strong>campa\u00f1a de equity crowdfunding<\/strong> con la finalidad de captar 320.000\u20ac a trav\u00e9s de la plataforma Capital Cell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Tras m\u00e1s de un a\u00f1o realizando ensayos, y de haber superado la Fase I, estudio precl\u00ednico, y verificado con maniqu\u00edes y sofisticado software la casi nula dispersi\u00f3n de gotitas y aerosoles por parte de los pacientes simulados gracias a la mascarilla que lleva integrada el dispositivo, tenemos previsto realizar los primeros estudios con pacientes en octubre.\u201d,<\/em> explica el <strong>Dr. Julio Alonso fundador y CEO de Airway Shield,<\/strong> m\u00e9dico intensivista en Brisbane, Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Y a\u00f1ade: \u201c<em>Las consecuencias de la exposici\u00f3n al virus del Covid <\/em><sup><em>2<\/em><\/sup><em> durante el proceso de intubaci\u00f3n ha evidenciado si cabe todav\u00eda m\u00e1s la necesidad de disponer de dispositivos con m\u00e1ximas garant\u00edas de protecci\u00f3n durante el proceso, no solo para los pacientes, si no tambi\u00e9n para el personal cl\u00ednico que realiza el procedimiento.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Se trata de un cambio radical en un procedimiento universal, con nuevo dispositivo dise\u00f1ado y testado en Espa\u00f1a y en Australia. Anestesistas e intensivistas de hospitales de ambos pa\u00edses han podido testarlo en maniqu\u00edes y mostrado su inter\u00e9s para poderlo empezar a usar en pacientes<\/em>\u201d, destaca el Dr. Alonso, creador del dispositivo y fundador de Airway Shield.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Confiamos en el \u00e9xito de esta primera ronda para lanzar el dispositivo al mercado y para continuar ampliando la evidencia cient\u00edfica y present\u00e1ndola en pr\u00f3ximos congresos internacionales y en publicaciones cient\u00edficas\u201d, <\/em>a\u00f1ade la <strong>Dra.
