PSA BDP has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd. (Dow India) to launch a first-of-its-kind sustainable transportation solution in India

Beginning in 2024, PSA BDP will deploy electric vehicles for import and export container trucking through PSA International’s (PSA) Mumbai, Ameya, and other terminals to Dow India’s facilities.

PSA Mumbai’s 6.25 megawatt (MW) Open Access Solar Plant, which is slated to be operational later in 2023, will power the trucks.

This innovative zero-emission transport solution is unique to the Indian market and will offer an integrated and eco-friendly mix of PSA BDP services that aims to provide greater flexibility and connection for Dow India and other PSA BDP clients looking for more sustainable options.

With the shipping and transportation industries focusing on lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, firms throughout the world are implementing more sustainable practises and strategies to decrease their carbon footprint throughout the supply chain.

PSA BDP has invested in a fleet of electric vehicles from a top EV truck manufacturer in the region to be utilised for this programme and additional client partnerships in preparation for the introduction of this new transport solution.

The vehicles can transport a fully loaded container for up to 200 kilometres, leading in a decrease in annual carbon emissions of nearly 300 tonnes when compared to diesel counterparts.

In April 2023, PSA and BDP International, Inc (BDP) announced the combination of their business units to form a new brand, PSA BDP.

One month later, PSA BDP launched Risk Monitor, a risk-monitoring digital product to help shippers manage disruptions in international trade.
