Navantia has announced it has set up Navantia UK, a subsidiary company in the United Kingdom. The Spanish company says it is estimated to reinforce Navantia’s commitment to its UK industrial partners in shipbuilding and the offshore wind energy sector.
UK offshore wind energy prospects
Navantia UK is advancing Navantia’s support of the UK National Shipbuilding Strategy and ten point plan for a green industrial revolution. Navantia UK’s activities will rely on partnerships with local industries across the United Kingdom.
The UK subsidiary will be well placed to collaborate with UK industry to explore the promising opportunities that exist in the UK offshore wind energy sector.
Offshore wind energy is the use of wind farms that are constructed in bodies of water, usually in the ocean on the continental shelf, in order to harvest wind energy to generate renewable electricity.
Since 2014, Navantia has taken part in the construction of the ‘East Anglia One’, ‘Hywind Scotland’, ‘Moray East’ and ‘Kincardine’ wind farms in the United Kingdom, manufacturing both fixed and floating foundations and substations for clients such as EDPR, Scottish Power and Cobra.
Navantia has also recently launched Navantia Seanergies, which was created with the aim of promoting its activity related to green energies, focused on offshore wind energy and hydrogen, both nationally and internationally.
The United Kingdom is one of the world’s leading countries in the development and use of offshore wind energy, making it a promising market for Navantia Seanergies.
