European cybersecurity test project in Barcelona

In conjunction with the company Cisco, work is being carried out on a new European project pursuing security in the sphere of the Internet of Things

The European project H2020 IRIS is made up of 19 organisations from different European countries. The goal is to offer a support framework in cases of security incidents, with the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) to detect, share, respond to and recover from cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities in ICT systems driven by the IoT and AI.

The pilot project carried out in the city will simulate a real-life smart city environment that is attacked by cyber-criminals. Cisco, along with the European consortium, will offer technical solutions and experience across the City Council’s entire IoT network, in a test conducted jointly with the CERT, the CSIRT and national cybersecurity authorities. The Municipal IT Institute (IMI) will provide support for the implementation of the pilot, while the Urban Lab being developed at the 22@ will act as the real urban testing ground where the trial is conducted.

The IRIS platform will be available for free for CERT and CSIRT teams in European countries when the project concludes in 2024.
