How Radix is Solving Today’s Device Management Problems for Businesses and Smart Cities

Nadav Avni (CMO): The world of smart cities is a priority for us and, as mentioned earlier, we’re currently involved in many projects”

Today we are witnessing the emergence of several innovative technologies at a pace never seen before. One such technology is smart technologies, which leverages smart devices, systems, and machine learning to enable cognitive awareness of objects and predictive analysis of events. As the move for smart cities continues to sweep across major cities of the world, there’s also been a rise in smart devices and IoT-enabled systems.

But that leaves a big gap: remote device management. There are so many devices (recent estimates for devices worldwide place the number at billions) that effectively managing them has become a cumbersome task, especially for organizations with large device fleets. And that’s where forward-thinking companies like Radix, an Israel-based device management company, offer value.

Radix, which commenced its device management journey around a decade ago, has swiftly emerged as a frontrunner in the realm of device management solutions. Nadav Avni, CMO at  Radix, sheds light on the company’s experiences, competitive edge, and the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping their offerings in this exclusive interview with The Smart City Journal.

TSCJ:- Radix began its journey as an ICT system integrator. Can you tell us the story of how you became a leader in the device management space?

Nadav Avni: - Radix was established in 1992 and started as an ICT system integrator in the field of training and education. But as the years went by, the company shifted to software development. In the last ten years, our focus has been on our device management and remote support solutions - both cloud- based and on-premise, which are integrated and white-labeled by many leading global smart device manufacturers and vendors, catering to the pressing need for effective central and remote management capabilities in the digital era.

The decision to focus our R&D efforts on device management solutions was based on a shortcoming we foresaw long before many in the industry. It was clear to us from the beginning that the global business landscape would witness accelerated digital transformation that would lead to rapid proliferation of smart devices - especially Android based - used by organizations. We knew that many of these businesses lacked effective central and remote management capabilities to keep their device fleet healthy, patched, and tuned to its mission.

TSCJ:- That’s interesting. What types of companies related to smart cities use the solutions you offer?

Nadav Avni: - Our solutions are used by many telcos, operators and service providers offering Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) and/or Device-management-as-a-Service (DMaaS). We are also involved in many projects of smart cities where smart devices are used for digital signages, information kiosks, rugged devices, and more and require central and remote management capabilities.

TSCJ:- What does your company offer in the context of smart cities?

Nadav Avni: - In the context of smart cities, Radix offers a compelling value proposition. With our OS and device-agnostic solutions, coupled with extensive experience in smart city projects, we are poised to address the unique challenges of urban environments. Our partnership with leading smart device manufacturers and vendors ensures seamless integration and efficient management of diverse device fleets.

The world of smart cities is a priority for us and, as mentioned earlier, we’re currently involved in many smart city projects.

TSCJ: - There are many companies addressing the device management debacle today. What sets you apart from the crowd?

Nadav Avni: - Radix distinguishes itself by developing all core technologies in-house, minimizing reliance on third parties. Our partnership with Google EMM, compliance with industry standards like the GDPR, CCPA, and ISO, as well as integration into device firmware underscore our commitment to reliability and security.

Another thing that makes us different is our comprehensive approach to device management, encompassing firmware integration, end-to-end management capabilities, and seamless integration with third-party APIs. This multi-layered approach not only simplifies administrative tasks but also enhances operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. We also enable two unique recurring revenue business models called DaaS and DMaaS.

TSCJ:- What’s the secret ingredient of your success over the years?

Nadav Avni: - Radix’s success over the years is mainly because of its exceptional human capital — consisting of seasoned and innovative professionals committed to excellence. In addition, all of our core technologies are developed, in-house, which reduce our dependence on third parties.

The popularity of our mobile device management solutions stems from their seamless integration into device firmware, enabling zero-touch provisioning and a user-friendly management interface. By automating tasks and providing real-time insights, Radix empowers organizations to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve overall performance.

TSCJ:- Lastly, tell us some of your plans for the near future. Are we going to be seeing any new offerings from Radix?

Nadav Avni: - We’re now looking at doing more with AI. Already, the company has introduced proactive support modules and is enhancing monitoring and analysis capabilities using machine learning. These advancements promise to revolutionize device management, offering more proactive, data-driven insights to optimize device fleet usage and enhance overall performance.

As technology continues to evolve, Radix will remain at the forefront, driving innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions that empower organizations to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. With a relentless focus on excellence and a commitment to staying ahead of the curve, our company is poised to shape the future of device management. If you asked me, that’s a smart future for a smart company.
