The new Smart.City_Lab blog is a new site launched by the Cities & Society business unit of Fira Barcelona to keep fostering debate on how to build better cities through technology, innovation, and citizen participation.

The blog aims to bring an international, forward-looking perspective to the latest urban stories related to issues such as mobility, sustainability, social inclusion, security, or digitization.

A wide range of content –short & long form writing, case studies, interviews, infographics, guest contributors…– will shed some light on this urban paradigm shift and will help us all understand the game-changing moment we are living today.

But why were we prompted to launch this project now?

We believe that cities are not just a bunch of technical and logistical problems to solve, but a living system made up of people. We want to bring all citizens closer to the smart city concept, helping them to better grasp this closer-than-ever new reality, and encouraging people to be active and central to the debate. 

The Smart.City_Lab blog  is taking its first steps, so Fira Barcelona invites you to dig in and share whatever you find interesting.
