The second edition of the forum, to be held on 7 and 8 June in Lisbon, will discuss the future opportunities of companies and cities.
ZOOM SMART CITIES 2017 is the most important event of the Smart Cities that is celebrated in Portugal and, with only two years of life, is already one of the most prestigious in the world thanks to the quality and competence of the present speakers, specialists in diverse areas, as well as the presence of exemplary cities in the world of intelligent cities.
To debate and to reflect on the future of cities, their problems, the innovative tools already available to solve some and others that will soon be reality, is one of the objectives of ZOOMSC17, which will be held for the second consecutive year in Lisbon, this time on days 7 and 8 of June, in the Universidad Nova. Also on the agenda are the debate on the involvement of citizens, as well as the increasingly preponderant role of citizens in the strategic decisions of their communities, contributing to greater democratic participation and happiness in cities.
The main objectives of ZOOMSC17 are several. One, involve all active agents in the construction of Smart Cities. For this the event focuses on information and knowledge, generators of thoughts and behaviors of learning and sharing. This international forum focuses on the permanent challenges that arise in the creation of smart cities and is offered to anyone who thinks of cities, who plans them, who lives them and who shares them. ZOOMSC17 involves researchers, academics, managers, public officials, entrepreneurs, creative and even mere dreamers, all gathered to share ideas, experiences and projects with one end: to make cities spaces more intelligent.

In ZOOMSC17 they will talk about some themes inherently related to the definition 'smart' of a city:

Dozens of national and international speakers, the best specialists, strategists and enthusiasts of the various themes that occupy the spectrum of the Smart Cities debate today, will meet to talk and debate in Lisbon. Among them will be Jason Roberts, Doug Lansky, Boyd Cohen, Rob Adams, Pablo Chillón or Frans-Anton Vermast. There will also be portuguese such as Manuel Pereira, João Caiedo Guerrero, Sandra Marques Pereira, Catarina Selada and Miguel de Castro Neto.
Cities and Territories
In ZOOMSC17 cities will not be missing. Some of the most influential Smart Cities on the globe and others from Portugal itself will present their projects and show how much they have in common. Thus, Amsterdam, Santander, Dublín, Lisboa, Guimarães, Guarda, Caldas da Raina, Oeiras, Cascais, Viseu, Alicante, Eindhoven, Valle del Tua, Trás-os-Montes and Barcelona.
Other events within the event include a summit of Portuguese mayors and technicians belonging to the smart cities section of the National Association of Municipalities of Portugal. This is the last stage of the Smart Cities Tour, which began in January and will present the conclusions and points to the future in ZOOMSC17. Five Portuguese cities -Portimão, Évora, Cascais, Viseu and Gaia- will offer themed workshops, all with the participation of stakeholders with impact on the globality of municipal sectors.
The PHD Master Class Geo-C will demonstrate the effective power of the data to unlock a number of situations, opening smart cities to the context of citizen participation, open data initiatives and research union on the same platform.
The Smartathon'17 will be a challenge for cooperation in community co-creation that can work with cities to respond to users' needs (climate, energy, data, housing, water, wastes, mobility, work, etc.) of the city and of the urban communities.
