Smart Cities are trendy in Africa, the economically less powerful continent despite their endless raw materials. Since IBM announced the creation of a laboratory in Nairobi, summits and conferences have multiplied through urban Africa.
Metropolis like Accra and Kinshasa are already planning smart urban extensions in the periphery of their large conurbations, in order to transform African cities through the integrations of digital technologies which can improve the quality of life of their citizens.
Technology can help Africa, but it also could cause failure. Business opportunity for big corporations should not be a burden for the people living in the 'black continent'. It’s time for Africa. Don’t disappoint it.
