The Smart Cities India Awards will recognize pioneering projects that aim to make cities more liveable, sustainable and economically viable by honouring best practices and models in the smart cities concept.
Smart City in India is an urban and retrofitting initiative by the Government of India to develop 100 cities all over India so that it will be citizen friendly and sustainable. The Union Ministry is responsible for implementing the mission in collaboration with the state governments of the respective cities. The government of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision to recast India’s urban landscape and develop 100 smart cities as satellite towns of larger cities and by modernizing the existing mid-sized cities.
Smart Cities India Expo is one the major exhibitions which provide an ideal platform for the companies to shows case their capability in the area of smart cities. The exhibition covers all the major sectors that are important for the establishment of a smart city. The first edition of Smart Cities India Expo 2015 witnessed huge footfalls of more than 12,000 business visitor. 207 Exhibitors from 40 countries participated in the annual event.
This year the Smart Cities India Expo has launched the 1st Smart Cities India Awards 2016 which will be hosted on the side-lines of the Smart Cities India Expo. This is an annual event designed to felicitate, recognize and encourage individuals, policy makers, companies, government bodies and associations working behind the successful execution of the mammoth dream of developing 100 smart cities and rejuvenation of 500 cities in India. The award recognizes pioneering projects that aim to make cities more liveable, sustainable and economically viable by honouring best practices and models in the smart cities concept. The objective is to foster the development of future cities enhancing quality of life, innovation, competitiveness and efficient management.
Smart Cities India Awards 2016 is being organized at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on May 13, 2016 on the side-lines of the Smart Cities India expo. The nominated projects should be inventive and have brought a significant impact on the lives of citizens.
Smart Cities India Awards 2016 will be given in the categories including: Smart city project, Safe city, Green building, Architectural design, Smart urban mobility, Smart energy, Smart village, Smart water project and Solid waste management project.
What is SCI
Smart Cities India Expo is an annual exhibition and conference organised by Exhibitions India group. Launched in 2015, the expo emerged as the most significant smart city event worldwide.
