Objective: that they always have the necessary resources

In the context of the current pandemic, numerous seniors find themselves isolated, and thus more vulnerable. It is therefore more important than ever to inform them of the appropriate resources to reach out to if needed. It is for this purpose that the urban agglomeration of Montréal and the regional public health department, in collaboration with the 211 helpline, will be placing automated calls to nearly 225,000 senior citizens aged 70 and over.

“These calls will be made both in French and in English, and will enable us to identify seniors who are vulnerable, in distress, or who have urgent needs, so as to direct them to available resources, or to their CLSC, if needed. These calls will also enable us to document the needs of our elderly population, and to adjust our response and community interventions accordingly, given the context,” said Mayor Valérie Plante.

Citizens who receive calls over the next few weeks are invited to listen to the entire recording to find out about the various available resources and the directions to follow. Those close to elderly citizens aged 70 and over are encouraged to discuss these upcoming automated calls with them.
