For 2016, the city hall will be taking Education as the main area of investment. For the first time, the city will spend 30% of the global budget just for this sector. Considering the national average and the sharp financial crisis the country is facing, we can say that it is a hard decision and definitely proves how the city is committed to Smart People concept.
In August 2015, Urban Systems, a Business Intelligence and major research company in this field released the Brazilian connected Smart Cities ranking. Curitiba was ranked as 1st in Smart Government and 5th in the main list.

As Curitiba is about Smart People, we have chosen a very nice project to show you called iCities, a local organization specialized in Smart Cities solutions and 100% focused in promoting the concept of Smart people.
Two vibrant projects ratify the good job they are doing to leverage people. The first project is related to education, a Post graduation course in Smart Cities they are managing with a local university. It is the first one to be done in Brazil.
The second project is called Icitiesgroup, a social media network that connects people interested in smart cities topic. The idea is to promote the knowledge exchange, to launch new technologies, and to boost a deep integration and business among all the stakeholders in the global market.
The platform was launched in November 2015 and now they are running an Ambassador Program. They are currently looking for Smart Cites Experts around the world to promote and represent the platform locally. Ambassadors will also be invited to share their opinions and articles in the platform.
